A common question I get for my Let’s Plays of Diablo 2, is how I activate ladder only runewords, here’s how.

You will need the Runes file off of the Discord ( http://discord.alzorath.com ) – located in the “Other-Downloads” file.

To install you need to go to your Diablo 2 install directory, and add the folders data \ global \ excel and place the Runes txt file inside.

Now, create a shortcut to your Diablo 2 executable file – edit properties, shortcut tab, add -txt in the “Target” slot, to the right of the text in quotations. (if it doesn’t work with -txt , your installation may require the use of both -direct AND -txt modifiers, as noted in the video)

There are multiple mods for either scaling or increasing the resolution, each with differing effects.

If you want to maintain aspect ratio (and have the intended gameplay experience), I recommend looking up the GLIDE mod, it requires some fiddling but maintains the most true experience.

If you want wide-screen or high resolution (views more of the battlefield than originally intended), then you will want to look up the D2 MultiRes mod.

I use the “GLIDE” mod for recording this to remain true to the original game’s intended design.

The Glide wrapper I use has been approved for use on bnet as of 1.14d – Multires has been repeatedly been stated as being a bannable mod.

We will have the option to make Ladder only runewords in Singleplayer!
This is huge since there is many awesome runewords that can be made on battle.net only. With simple modding, you can make those runewords in SP!
